E.Z. Choates Will Observe 55th Wedding Anniversary

      This weekend will be one of wedding anniversaries for Mr. and Mrs. Edward Z. Choate of 403 Bryden Ave., but both will be celebrated quietly.

      Mr. and Mrs. Choate said they will observe their 55th anniversary at their home tomorrow "without any fuss," then drive to Orofino Sunday for the 50th anniversary observance of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Parsley. Mrs. Parsley is a sister of Mrs. Choate.

      The Choates were married Oct. 18, 1914, at Cavendish, and lived on the Choate ranch near there 30 years before moving to Orofino in the autumn of 1944. Choate was born on the ranch March 13, 1892. Mrs. Choate was born Lily Peterson, March 20, 1895, at Guilroy, Calif. The Petersens moved from California to Cavendish in 1903 where she met Choate. They also were ranchers.

      The Choates moved to Lewiston in 1945 where he engaged in construction work and worked at Potlatch Forests, Inc. Before retiring in 1964, Choated worked about a year as a caretaker at Normal Hill Cemetery and about three years at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens.

      They are the parents of four sons, Gordon Choate, Orofino; Edward Choate Jr., Dexter Ore.; Earl Choate, Los Angeles; and two daughters, Mrs. H. L. Ogden, Lenore, and Mrs. Tom Fackenphall, Post Falls.
